Tui Dairy owner Jennifer Lin is stressed and upset after her Mangorei Rd, New Plymouth business was ram raided overnight.

A New Plymouth dairy owner has “lost her peace” after a stolen car was used to ram raid her business on Tuesday morning.

It was not the first time Jennifer Lin’s Tui Dairy, on the corner of Mangorei Rd and Karaka St in Merrilands, had been targeted. Two years ago Lin was threatened with a machete by an armed robber.

On Tuesday afternoon people walking past were stopping to hug and console Lin as she watched builders try to repair the damage.

Lin’s sister, Jan Lin, said this latest incident had caused her sister to be very stressed.

“It’s destroyed her life. It’s not fair. We’re good people who work hard.”

A stolen car was driven into the Tui Dairy just after midnight.

The sisters reeled off a list of New Plymouth dairies, owned by friends, which had been robbed recently.

“It’s just too much. It’s getting worse,” Jan Lin said. “It’s sad for small business owners.”

Police were notified of the incident just after midnight, after a stolen vehicle was used to ram the front of the store, a police spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the ram raid caused a fog cannon to activate before the offenders left in a separate car.

The car used was a Nissan model and was reported to police as stolen.

Police are continuing to make inquiries.
