Brian Jonestown Massacre will play one New Zealand show in November.
Iconic psychedelic rockers The Brian Jonestown Massacre will return to New Zealand for one show in late 2023.
Fronted by Anton Newcombe with a revolving ensemble, the San Francisco group will perform at Auckland’s The Powerstation on November 9, with tickets on sale July 10.
The tour follows the release of the band’s latest release and twentieth album The Future is Your Past, which Mojo Magazine described as “Newcombe celebrating the moment and at his best”.
This will be the Brian Jonestown Massacre’s first New Zealand show since 2018.
Formed in the early 1990s, The Brian Jonestown Massacre rose to fame with their neo-psychedelia sound and Newcombe’s unapologetic personality.
The group was one of the subjects of the 2004 documentary Dig!, which followed the friendship and rivalry between Portland band The Dandy Warhols and Newcombe’s cohort.
