A car has crashed into a building on the Temuka-Orari Highway/SH1.

A car has crashed into a property on State Highway 1 in Winchester on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were notified of the single vehicle crash about 2.30pm, on the highway between North St and Harrison Rd.

Hato Hone St John sent one ambulance to the scene. A spokesperson said upon arrival paramedics assessed and treated one parson who was sent to Timaru Hospital in a moderate condition.

There are no reports the highway has been blocked due to the crash.

Fire and Emergency NZ shift manager Simon Lyford said two crews attended; one from Temuka and one from Geraldine.

When firefighters arrived they found all occupants out of the car and helped police and the paramedics, Lyford said.

A police spokesperson said there were no reports of the highway being blocked, and they were arranging for the vehicle to be towed.
