The two car crash happened around 6pm
A two-vehicle crash is blocking access between Whangārei and Dargaville, with no way for traffic to divert.
The crash, which occurred near the intersection of Otuhi Rd on SH14, Wheki Valley, happened around 6pm on Thursday.
Police said the road is expected to be closed for some time and that there were no available diversions.
Traffic trying to get between the two would have to head very far south, back towards Auckland, before heading towards the east coast.
The trip would likely take around 2 hours.
“Please avoid the area, delay travel, or expect significant delays”, police said.
