Firefighters have rushed to a crash that sparked a blaze in north of Whanganui.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash on Kauarapaoa Rd, Brunswick, about 35 kilometres north of Whanganui just after 7pm.

Fire and Emergency central shift manager Carlos Dempsey said the crash “in the sticks” turned into a vegetation fire as firefighters arrived.

A police spokeswoman said no one was hurt in the crash.
