Police are investigating an assault which left a man seriously injured in Featherston on Wednesday morning.

Detective senior sergeant Philip Skoglund said a member of the public found a man injured on their driveway at 3am on Wednesday.

The injured man’s vehicle, a blue Toyota Caldina station wagon, was found burnt out in a reserve approximately 35km away in Gladstone about the same time.

Skoglund said police were working to establish the circumstances of the event and identify the person responsible.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw suspicious activity at the time,” he said.
