Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce chief executive Ali Boswijk said the business awards recognised the wide range of talent in the region.
Nelson technology company Snap Group were the supreme and large business winners at the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce Business awards.
Snap Group develops live cameras, AI hardware and satellite communication systems which have been used by television broadcasters, fishing and construction companies, airports and tourism groups.
Other winners in the Nelson Pine Industries sponsored awards on Friday night were tuition service Boost Your Learning which won the start-up award; Aroha Chocolate won the small business award; IT provider CNX won the medium business award; Tasman Environmental Trust won the environmental award; biotech start-up Kimer Med won the innovative award and Multicultural Nelson Tasman, the community impact award.

Four pioneers of Nelson’s wine industry were also inducted into the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame: Agnes and Hermann Seifried of Seifried Wines, and Tim and Judy Finn of Neudorf Vineyards.
Ali Boswijk, chief executive of the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce, said award nights were important milestones to acknowledge organisations doing well especially at a time when “external pressures” made being in business more challenging.
“The diverse nature of our economy is also well represented through these awards and it is great to see such a wide range of talent on display.”

TOP SOUTH MEDIA START UP BUSINESS AWARD WINNER:
Boost Your Learning. A tuition service that offers one- on-one, bespoke lessons to students across Aotearoa. They work together with whānau and teachers to support students to succeed in education. They conduct a diagnostic assessment to identify the learner’s strengths and needs.
NELSON CITY COUNCIL SMALL BUSINESS AWARD WINNER:
Aroha Chocolate. They create hand crafted, artisan chocolates, using premium Belgian chocolate and combine it with ingredients sourced locally and from around the world, with no added artificial preservatives.
MEDIAWORKS MEDIUM BUSINESS AWARD WINNER:
CNX. A local IT provider of excellence across Te Tau Ihu and Aotearoa. CNX specialises in end-to-end IT managed services and support.
NZME LARGE BUSINESS AWARD WINNER:
Snap Group (also the Supreme award winner). New Zealand based SnapIT is a team of highly-skilled and dedicated, specialist software developers, electronic and mechanical engineers developing and manufacturing live cameras, AI hardware and satellite communication systems from the ground up.
NBS ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD WINNER:
Tasman Environmental Trust. Tasman Environmental Trust (TET) is a collection of people deeply committed to restoring and conserving the Nelson Tasman natural environment. In 2022, they’re managing 22 conservation projects worth approximately $7 million across 175 restoration sites in Nelson Tasman.
INNOVATE CHARITABLE TRUST INNOVATIVE BUSINESS AWARD WINNER:
Kimer Med. A post-seed biotech start-up, developing a broad-spectrum antiviral drug. Their vision is an end to the suffering caused by viral disease.
BOWATER HYUNDAI COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD WINNER:
Multicultural Nelson Tasman. A non-government organisation which supports migrants, former refugees and people from minority ethnicities in the Nelson/Tasman region with their settlement process.
