California bands Bad Religion and Social Distortion will go ahead with their first-ever New Zealand show in Auckland on Wednesday night, but have pivoted to a new location as Cyclone Gabrielle continues across the country.
The punk ensembles were set to play a co-headlining gig at Trusts Arena in west Auckland, an area that has copped significant damage from the impact of Cyclone Gabrielle.
TheTrusts Arena doubles as an emergency civil defence centre, and will continue to host evacuees impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle until 5pm Thursday.
The concert will now take place at The Powerstation, located in Auckland’s Eden Terrace, staff working at the arena told ticketholders on Tuesday afternoon.

On Instagram, Social Distortion singer Mike Ness confirmed the band had already touched down in New Zealand, while Bad Religion posted “Auckland, we’re on our way”, and a picture of a bus driving through the floods earlier this month.
Following their Auckland gig, the bands will play shows in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
