At Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai: Black Caps 142-8 in 20 overs (Mark Chapman 63 from 46 balls, Aayan Afzal Khan 3-20 from four overs) lost to UAE 144-3 in 15.4 overs (Muhammad Waseem 55 from 29 balls, Asif Khan 48no from 29 balls) by seven wickets.

The Black Caps have fallen to a shock T20 loss to the United Arab Emirates in Dubai.

The UAE’s emphatic seven wicket win on Sunday (NZ time) was the Black Caps’ first loss in 39 matches against a non-test playing nation across all formats.

After narrowly avoiding a surprise loss in the opening game of their three match series on Friday, New Zealand failed to fire with bat or ball in an underwhelming showing.

The UAE comfortably chased down their target of 143 with 26 balls remaining and seven wickets in hand.
