A burst watermain has flooded a street in east Auckland, sending water rushing into some shops.
An Ōrākei shop worker said the water started rising around 3pm on Monday and was flowing steadily onto the road for at least two hours.
“Thankfully our store isn’t flooded. But other stores are flooded. The water is ankle level,” he said.

Watercare crews are on Coates Ave, working to repair the burst watermain.
“We expect repairs to be completed by 9.30pm,” a Watercare spokesperson said.
Fire and Emergency services were called out to the flooding but later handed the situation over to Watercare.
