Six people were treated by ambulance staff, after a fire in central Invercargill early Wednesday
Six people were treated by ambulance staff, one of them in a serious condition, as a result of an early morning fire in central Invercargill.
Fire and Emergency NZ said they received multiple 111 calls in quick succession about 1am to a blaze in a multi-storey building.
The building was well involved when firefighters arrived, and seven fire trucks were soon on the scene.
The blaze was contained to two buildings, with police and ambulance helping at the scene, FENZ said.
Everyone had been removed from the building, and six people were in the care of St John.
About 6am, three fire trucks and a support vehicle remained at the scene, and a fire investigator would be returning later in the day.
Police said the fire was in Dee St, and that one of the six people treated by ambulance staff was in a serious condition.
