Two people are in critical and one in serious condition after a crash on Rakaia Tce Rd, Hororata
The family of two teens killed in a single-vehicle crash in Canterbury on Saturday are “heartbroken”.
Jinena Tats-Quin Abellera confirmed the death of her niece and nephew 19-year-old Khatricia Dulay and 17-year-old Ian Laurence Dulay on Sunday, adding that the family was “worried, crying, sad”.
Another niece, aged 22-year-old, was one of the two critically injured in the crash. She had been airlifted to Christchurch Hospital. A third person was in a moderate condition.
A police spokesperson said the crash happened on Rakaia Terrace Rd, Hororata, at 2.38pm on Saturday.
It happened between the intersections of Te Pirita and Steeles Rd, around 24 kilometres northwest of Rakaia.
“We are all heartbroken, especially their mum,” Abellera said. She said the situation was “hard” and said “it’s hurt”.
She said the family was worried about her niece in the hospital.
