Multiple fire crews responded to a “well-involved” house fire in Dannevirke on Wednesday night.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand sent three crews from Dannevirke and Norsewood stations, two water tankers and a support crew to the scene on Piripiri Rd at 6.30pm.

A spokesperson said upon arrival firefighters found the house to be “well-involved” and started work to extinguish the blaze.

All occupants of the property were accounted for, the spokesperson said.

Firefighters were in attendance till 9.45pm and a specialist fire investigator would be heading to the property on Thursday to determine the cause.

A police spokesperson said they assisted with traffic management along State Highway 2 and Piripiri Rd while FENZ worked.

There were no reports of injuries and the roads were clear at 9.50pm.
