Firefighters have been at the site of a chemical spill in Feilding for more than an hour.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) responded to the spill at 11.23am with four crews, two from Feilding, and one each from Milson and Bunnythorpe.

A Hazmat command unit was also on scene at Kawakawa Rd, a known industrial area.

Firefighters were responding to a hydrogen peroxide chemical spill, a FENZ spokesperson said.

The next steps should be “pretty straightforward”, they said.

Police were notified of the incident but were not needed, a spokesperson said. Hato Hone St John were also notified of the incident.

More to come.
