A horse has been killed after colliding with a car on a back road in Sanson.
Emergency services were called to Cemetery Rd in Sanson just before 6.30pm after receiving reports of a crash on Monday.
A police spokesperson said the horse died in the collision with the hatchback, and its owners were at the scene.
The car was significantly damaged, and the driver was in a state of shock, she said.
Fire and Emergency Central shift manager Allison Munn said the driver had some minor injuries to his hands.
