Firefighters have battled a house blaze that is taking “concerted effort to put out”.
Several fire crews have got the better of a “well-involved” house fire in Ōpunake on Tuesday afternoon.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) were alerted to the fire at 2.22pm and initially sent five trucks to the scene; two from Ōpunake, two from Kaponga and one from Rahotu.
A support vehicle was also sent to the scene from New Plymouth, FENZ shift manager Murray Dunbar said.
Dunbar said about 3.30pm the fire was “well-involved” in the house’s ceiling, and was taking a “concerted effort to put out”.
There were occupants in the property when the fire was reported, but no one had been injured, Dunbar said.
By 4.09pm the fire had been suppressed, but two fire crews remained at the scene to check for hotspots.
