A vape store on Pomona St has been boarded up after a ramraid on Sunday morning.

A vape shop has been ramraided in one of two business break-ins this weekend in Invercargill.

Police were called to the Pomona St Discount & Vape Store in Strathern about 4.30am on Sunday, after “a vehicle was used to gain entry”, a police spokesperson said later that morning.

An unknown number of offenders entered the store before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.

“Enquiries are ongoing to ascertain what was taken and to identify those involved.”

It was the second time in four months the Pomona St Discounter was ramraided. In March a stolen vehicle smashed through the front door and cash and vape products were stolen.

On Saturday night, Mitre 10 Invercargill was also burgled.

A police spokesperson said the commercial premises on Elles Rd was broken into, about 10.30pm on Saturday.

“There is currently no information to suggest a link between the two incidents,” the spokesperson said.

Mitre 10 Invercargill general manager Tracy Key confirmed the store was broken into overnight.

“Given the matter is under investigation, we are not prepared to make any additional comments,” she said.

Invercargill MP, National’s Penny Simmonds said the ramraid was “yet another example of the increasing crime problems in our city”.

“I send my support to the owners of this shop and hope that the individuals involved can be apprehended as soon as possible,” she said in a statement on Sunday.

“Just because these crimes continue to happen does not make them right.”
