Tyson Fury has labelled Jake Paul “a decent boxer” as the controversial YouTube star gets set to fight his younger brother Tommy Fury next month.

The long-awaited fight is scheduled for Riyadh in Saudi Arabia on February 27 (NZT) and Tyson, the WBC heavyweight champion, has warned his sibling not to take the outspoken Paul lightly.

“I think he’s a decent boxer. A lot of people think Jake Paul is just a YouTube person who doesn’t know how to box but I’ve actually seen him training and I’ve actually seen his fights and I think he’s decent,” Fury told Sky Sports in the UK.

YouTuber Jake Paul’s controversial boxing career has taken another step forward with a win against Tyron Woodley.

“He’s like a novice professional. He’s only had six fights so he’s exactly as good as he should be at this stage. He’s not an Olympic boxer but then again neither am I.

“Tommy can’t just go to the ice cream parlour and not train. He’s got to really focus and have the right sparring and everything. He’s got to take it really seriously.”

Tommy Fury is 8-0 fighting as a light-heavyweight. Paul has fought as a cruiserweight. The two heated rivals both have four knockout victories on their records.

Tyson Fury predicts another stoppage win for his brother.

“I think Tommy knocks him out inside six rounds,” Tyson Fury told Sky Sports.

“Tommy hits and hurts me, and I’m 20 stone (127kg) and six foot nine (2.006m) and the heavyweight champion of the world.”

Tommy Fury and Paul were supposed to fight twice before.

The original fight was planned for December 2021, but Fury pulled out with an illness. Paul ended up fighting former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in a rematch and knocked him out.

The postponed date for August 2022 was also scrapped, when Fury had travel issues coming into the United States.

They have had a heated build-up throwing regular barbs at each other.

Paul has ambitions to be a world champion boxer and this will be his biggest assignment to date.

“I will get in the ring with a ‘real boxer,’ an 8-0 fighter from a storied fighting family and show the world the truth about who Jake Paul, the boxer, really is.”
