Avantdale Bowling Club will have to beat out acclaimed artists Marlon Williams and Tami Neilson in order to become the first act to ever win the Taite Music Prize twice in the award’s 13-year history.

The Auckland-based outfit – fronted by Tom Scott – was announced on Friday as one of ten finalists for the prize – for the recent album Trees this September.

The debut album Years Gone By in 2018 also picked up the win.

Rock outfit The Beths and Te Kaahu have also been announced as finalists for the annual award – which celebrates the best New Zealand album released over the previous 12 months.
