East Tamaki Heights resident Leon Scott said he could see the smoke from his lounge window.
Auckland residents have reported seeing a large plume of black smoke rising in East Tamaki on Tuesday morning.
Ten fire trucks rushed to the blaze at Neilpark Drive shortly after 9am on Tuesday, with more support vehicle on their way.
The fire had spread through a two-storey industrial building, used for processing food, Fire and Emergency services said.
No injuries have been reported.

Residents in East Tamaki reported spotting a large plume of black smoke rising from a building.
At 10.15am, firefighters reported the blaze had been extinguished and crews were dampening hot spots.
The last fire engine left the scene at 12.30pm.
A nearby worker said she saw several fire trucks arriving at Neil Park Drive, outside a smoking building.
“Massive black smoke [is] coming out. Everyone is evacuating,” she said.
The worker said it appeared the fire was at the back of the building.
According to a Stuff reporter, the plume of smoke could be seen as far as the Northern Motorway.
