Multiple crews battle two large building fires in Marlborough

Eight crews and four tankers are battling two large, separate fires in Marlborough on Tuesday morning.

Fire and emergency shift manager Simon Lyford said multiple crews were battling building fires, one house fire near Seddon and one building in Grovetown. It is not known if the Grovetown fire is a commercial or residential property, Lyford said.

“We responded to the property fire on Tetley Brook Rd just after 9am, and upon arrival the house was well involved and a second alarm was raised and more crews arrived,” Lyford said.

“At the scene now are four appliances and three tankers.”

Lyford said the building on Vickerman St in Grovetown also required backup upon arrival just after 9.30am, with four appliances and one tanker currently at the scene.
