Emergency services are investigating a number of fires in the South Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe and Manurewa overnight.

Fenz was called to an address in Papatoetoe at 3.26am on Wednesday, where they found multiple cars on fire.

It took emergency services 45 minutes to put out the fires.

Fenz and police were called to the same property earlier that evening, at around 11pm on Tuesday, to an incident also involving a car fire.

A couple of streets over, also in Papatoetoe, Fenz was called to a building’s smoke alarm that had been triggered by a skip bin on fire.

Police said a man was located nearby and taken into custody in connection with this incident.

“This man was spoken to but at this stage no charges have been laid,” a police spokesperson said.

Enquiries into the fires are ongoing.
