Fire and Emergency New Zealand are investigating multiple fires in Papatoetoe.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) are investigating after a number of fires popped up in the South Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe overnight.

Fenz was called to an address in Papatoetoe at 3.26am on Wednesday, where they found multiple cars engulfed in a blaze.

The fire burned for about 45 minutes, and had been put out by 4.17am.

Fenz had visited the same property earlier that evening, at around 11.30pm on Tuesday, to an incident also involving a car fire.

Fire investigators will return to the scene to assess the circumstances of the fire during the daylight hours.

A couple of streets over, also in Papatoetoe, Fenz was called after a building’s smoke alarm was triggered by a skip bin on fire.

A Fenz spokesperson was not able to say if the incidents were linked, or if there were any injuries from the fires.

Police have been approached for comment.
