Music legend Tina Turner has died aged 83.

One of the world’s most famous voices has passed away after a long illness, her publicist Bernard Doherty told the PA news agency.

The star was known for hits with spanned decades including Proud Mary, Simply The Best and What’s Love Got To Do With It.

She had not been in good health in recent years, and was diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant in 2017.

Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, she won eight competitive Grammy Awards.
