Nelson College will take on rivals Christchurch Boys High School for another shot at schoolboy rugby supremacy next Saturday.
The teams will meet in Nelson for the final of the Miles Toyota premiership for schools in the Crusaders secondary school region, with Nelson aiming for its third title in a row.
On Saturday Nelson College beat St Bede’s College 31-19 in the semi-final, finishing strongly after the Christchurch visitors had rallied from 17-0 down to go ahead 19-17 early in the second half.
But a close-range try to prop Sione Mafi put the hosts back in front, before first-five Harrison Inch made a break deep inside his 22, setting up winger Mikey Morrison for the match-winning score.
Christchurch Boys beat St Thomas of Canterbury College 27-17 in the other semi-final.

The win extends Nelson’s remarkable record, reaching its fourth final in five years, and winning three of them. Last year Nelson beat St Bede’s in the Miles Toyota final before being edged out by John McGlashan College from Dunedin in the South Island final.
In 2021 they beat Christ’s College in the Crusaders region final, and won the South Island title by beating Otago Boys High School.

Waimea Combined will also play for a trophy next Saturday after beating Christ’s College second XV in the championship plate semi-final. They will play St Bede’s College second XV in the final.
Marlborough Boys College won through to the final of the premiership plate, beating Christ’s College 26-20 in the semi-final. They will travel to Christchurch to take on St Andrews in the final next Saturday.
