Emergency services in Linwood rescued a pedestrian critically injured in a collision with a car.

A person has been critically injured and rescued from a vehicle after a collision in east Christchurch.

The collision involved a pedestrian and a single car on Chelsea St in Linwood around 5.50pm on Thursday, a police spokesperson said.

“The pedestrian is in a critical condition and is being transported to hospital,” they said.

The person was “freed” by fire crews from the vehicle, Fire and Emergency shift manager Alex Norris said.

Two fire trucks, one from Christchurch station and another from Woolston, attended, he said.
