“It is anticipated this section of State Highway 1 will be reopened this morning.”

SH1is closed between Hill Rd and Takanini going southbound due to a serious crash, Waka Kotahi said.

Traffic is having to detour onto Hill Rd, before getting back on the motorway at the Takanini on-ramp.

Commuters have been warned to expect delays.

Over on SH20, another crash involving two cars is blocking three lanes heading south.

The crash happened near Mahunga Drive at about 6.40am, according to police.

“While no serious injuries are currently being reported, the crash is causing delays for the morning commute.”

That crash involves at least two vehicles they said.
