Police are searching for Jan Burton, 51, who was reported missing from her Kinloch home on July 26.

Taupō police continue to search for Jan Burton, 51, who has been reported missing from her Kinloch home since Wednesday.

Police and LANDSAR volunteers searched for Burton, missing in the Kinloch area on Wednesday night after concerns were raised for her safety. She was last seen on Wednesday morning on a walking track near Kinloch.

Taupō Area Commander Inspector Phil Edwards said over the weekend police and land search and rescue teams will be in the Kinloch and Kawakawa Bay area as the search continues.

“Over the weekend these tracks will remain open to us all, but please consider our teams as they continue searching for Jan-Marie.

“It is not known what she is wearing, but she is described as having a very thin build,” Edwards said.

The Police Eagle Helicopter assisted with the search and on Thursday the search teams, including search dogs, were covering a wide area.

Police and Burton’s family are increasingly concerned for her welfare and would like to hear from anyone who has information that could assist with the efforts to locate her.

“If you happen to come across Jan-Marie, please stay with her and telephone police via 111,” Edwards said.

Police have asked for anyone with information that could assist with search efforts to call police on 105, referencing event number P055454939.
