Smoke filling nearby streets in Hawera on Sunday morning after a fire broke out at ASB on High St.
Taranaki police are asking the public to avoid central Hāwera as emergency services respond to a fire on High Street.
Stuff understands the blaze broke out at the ASB Bank just after 9am on Sunday.
Cordons are in place on Albion and Princess streets.

People are being asked to avoid the area at this time.
New Plymouth station officer Mark Urwin said all the region’s fire appliances were heading to Hāwera to help tackle the blaze.
A Burns St resident said they could see the smoke from their property across town. They had visited Pak ’n Save, also in High St, but were asked to leave.
A post on Hāwera Pak ’n Save’s Facebook page said: “We have been asked by the authorities to close Pak ’n Save until this incident is resolved.
“Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. We will keep you posted.”
