Power has been restored to more than 1000 homes in the Mackenzie District after a truck crashed into a power pole outside a fuel station on Monday afternoon.
An Alpine Energy spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday morning that power had been restored to all 1200 homes at 12.06am.
The power outage covered Ben Ohau, Twizel and Pukaki.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson Jill Higgison had earlier said two fire crews from Twizel responded to the incident at the Mobil service station on the intersection of Mackenzie Drive and Ruataniwha Rd at 1.51pm.
Higgison said the two crews made the scene safe before the power company arrived. She added no injuries were reported.
Twizel resident Paul Hannagan, on Monday, said he was about 50 feet from it but didn’t hear a thing and only saw the crash about 30 seconds later.
He said their home, on the other side of Twizel, lost power.
