A security guard has been hospitalised following an early morning assault.

A man has been arrested after a female security guard was “repeatedly” assaulted at her workplace on Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the workplace on Peacock Road in Henderson, Auckland just after 9am, following reports of an assault.

Senior sergeant Ryan Lelleby said a “disgruntled client” approached the security guard and assaulted her.

The security guard has been taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

“A police patrol unit in the area responded to the job within minutes and arrested the man just down the road from the scene,” Lilleby said.

The workplace was put into lockdown following the incident, but has since reopened.

“This is a very concerning incident, and we would like to reassure the community that we take this kind of offending seriously,” Lilleby said.

“We hope this quick arrest demonstrates our commitment to hold those responsible for this type of brazen behaviour to account.”
