Armed police are responding to an incident in Auckland CBD that began shortly after daybreak Thursday morning.
A Stuff reporter heard multiple shots fired.
One person was seen being wheeled in a stretcher from Galway St towards the Auckland ferry building shortly after 8.30am.
Stuff understands there are multiple casualties.
There are several ambulances on the scene, officers standing next to stretchers ready to enter the building.
A worker at The Cloud was told by police shortly after 8.15am that the offender “is down”.

A downtown office worker who was cycling along Quay St at the time of the incident said he heard up to five gunshots.
He said there are about “5000 people” standing around lower Queen St and the surrounding areas.
The public have been asked to stay inside and avoid the area, police said.
“Something big is happening,” a witness told Stuff.
A worker who was in a construction building said two men with shotguns came in at about 7.20am.
A Stuff reporter at the scene said Quay St was blocked by police cars and the police helicopter was hovering overhead.
