The MV Shiling container ship is being towed back to Wellington by the Skandi Emerald tug, 10 days after it sent a mayday call near Farewell Spit.
The tow is expected to take 20 to 25 hours to get the vessel from its current location to Wellington Harbour.
Since the mayday call on May 12, both vessels have been located in Tasman Bay north of Nelson.
A 500-metre exclusion zone is in place around the towage operation for the journey to Wellington.
More to come…
