Four teenagers have been found responsible for a series of suspicious fires in a Manawatū toilet block.

The public toilets, situated on the corner of Guildford and Winchester streets, Ashhurst, were set alight between 8pm and 9pm on Tuesday, July 25 and then again the next evening.

A third fire at the toilets, owned by the Palmerston North City Council, was reported on the morning of Friday, July 28, along with another fire at the Skate Park in Ashhurst.

In a statement on Monday, police said following a public appeal for information, officers had spoken to a number of people in relation to the fires.

“As a result, four youths aged 13-17 will be referred to Youth Services,” they said.

Police would like to thank the Ashhurst community who got in touch with us following the appeal for information.

Their assistance helped us to quickly identify and hold those responsible to account.
