Stuff’s talented visual journalists snapped a third of the photos selected in the finals for the New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year competition.
Almost 8000 people entered the competition for 2023, with their photos capturing an “exceptional year in Aotearoa”.
Categories included wildlife, aerial, portrait, landscape, built environment, society, adventure and photo story (four to six photos which tell a story).
Of the 68 photos selected in the finals, Stuff photographers were behind the camera for 23 of them.
Stuff Digital managing director Nadia Tolich said it was an “incredible achievement”.
“[It] demonstrates exactly why Stuff is home to the best visual journalists in New Zealand.”
Stuff Masthead Publishing managing director Joanna Norris said the visual journalists were brilliant at their craft.
“They get out and cover the stories of New Zealand every day and the moments they capture often tell a story with just a frame, just a glance.
“I’m really pleased their work has been recognised, as this commitment to cover all of Aotearoa takes real guts.”
The full list of finalists can be found here. Winners will be selected at an awards ceremony on October 27.
