Armed police respond to incident at Auckland’s Sylvia Park.
Armed police have arrested two people in Sylvia Park Shopping Centre after a fight broke out on Tuesday afternoon.
The pair are associates of the Rebels gang, police said.
No injures have been reported.
Police received reports that the men fighting were “carrying knives and other objects”, acting inspector Matt Child said.
“Due to the nature of what was reported, attending staff were armed as a precaution.”
The incident took place near a Michael Hill jewellery store.

Armed police have arrested two people in Sylvia Park Shopping Centre after a fight broke out.
One St John ambulance and three rapid response units also responded to the fight, but were stood down by police.
A worker in the mall said she saw police officers armed with rifles running through the building at about 1pm.
“It all happened so fast. We closed our doors, so we were all safe inside. We never expected anything like this.
“There were police officers and security guards everywhere. A few people running around,” she said.
Employees at a nearby clothing store, Max, said they saw a large police presence around the nearby Michael Hill store around 30 minutes ago.
A fog cannon seemed to have gone off, as the employee could see the smoke-like substance.
The employee told Stuff she believed the incident was over and police were no longer on the scene.
She also said incidents such as this happened around twice a month, but Max had never been targeted.
Both men involved in the incident are in custody and will be facing charges relating to fighting in a public place, police said.
Police are still investigating the incident.
