Emergency services are attending the scene of a serious crash in mid Canterbury.
Two people in critical condition have been airlifted to Christchurch Hospital following a crash in Canterbury which has triggered a large emergency response.
A third person is being treated at the scene by paramedics, a Hato Hone St John spokesperson says.
The spokesperson said they received report of an incident – reported as a single-vehicle collision by police – on Rakaia Terrace Rd, Horoata, at 2.38pm.
Two ambulances, two helicopters, one rapid response unit and one operations manager have responded to the scene, the spokesperson said.
Police believe there are serious injuries involved, but did not say how many people were involved.
The crash happened between the intersections of Te Pirita and Steeles Rd, around 24 kilometres North-West of Rakaia.
Diversions are in place, and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
