Emergency services in Manawatū/Horowhenua district responded to two accidents late on Wednesday afternoon.

One person was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash in Foxton.

Emergency services responded to a report a vehicle had hit a power pole on Motuiti Rd around 4.10pm.

A police spokesperson said one person was transported to hospital in a serious condition, and inquiries are ongoing.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand responded with crews from Foxton and Palmerston North. Upon arrival, firefighters had to help get an 80-year-old out of the car, a spokesperson said.

Crews left the scene at 5.15pm.

Emergency services responded to another single vehicle crash on Tangimoana Rd around 5.10pm where it was reported the vehicle hit a tree, a police spokesperson said.

The person was transported to hospital in a serious condition, they said.

Fire and Emergency responded with two crews from Bulls to assist police.
