The streets are set to be filled with music as the 56th annual Manawatū Jazz and Blues Festival gets under way.

Friday

Manawatū Jazz and Blues Festival: NZ’s second-oldest jazz festival gets under way with the Jazz On Your Feet Swing Dance at Old Savage Club Hall in Palmerston North from 7.30pm.

Saturday

Jazz fest in Feilding: Swinganui at Murray’s Irish Bar from 11am to 2pm; Shellie Hanley at The Strong Room from 2pm to 5pm, and Chris Dann Trip at Drovers from 5pm to 8pm.

NZ Highwaymen: Country tribute show at the Awapuni Function Centre from 8pm.

Craft & Food Fair: More than 85 stalls at Barber Hall in Palmerston North, 10am to 3pm.

The Legend of Okatia: Premiere performance of an orchestral composition by Kane Parsons telling a Rangitāne story on the forming of Te Āpiti Manawatū Gorge, from 3pm at The Regent on Broadway in Palmerston North.

Sunday

Go Jets: Watch the Manawatū Jets take on the Auckland Tuatara at Fly Palmy Arena in NBL action from 4pm.

Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride: Postponed from last weekend due to bad weather – a vintage motorbike ride, with vintage attire, supporting men’s health. From 10.30am at Manchester Square, Feilding. Ride begins at 11.30am. Register at gentlemansride.com

Jazz fest in Feilding: Easy Street at The Strong Room, 2pm to 5pm, and the Kevin Watson Trio at Murray’s Irish Bar from 5pm to 8pm.
