All Whites midfielder Sarpreet Singh has been moved on by German giants Bayern Munich after struggling with injuries and a lack of first team action.

He will remain in Germany after securing a transfer to second-tier club Hansa Rostock for an undisclosed fee.

“We would like to thank Sarpreet for his commitment to FC Bayern. Especially in the season of the third division championship, he had a large part in the success of the teams,” Bayern sports director Halil Altintop said.

”He was also able to show his qualities again and again at his loan stations – especially in his first Regensburg season, Sarpreet made a major contribution to staying up in the league. We wish him all the best for the future.”

In a ground-breaking move, the 24-year-old playmaker joined Bayern – one of the biggest clubs in world football – from Wellington Phoenix in 2019 and linked up with their reserve team which played in the German third division.

Singh was immediately included on a pre-season trip to the United States, and he went on to make two appearances for the Bundesliga team in his first season after impressing for Bayern Munich II.

He has spent the past three seasons out on loan to second-tier clubs FC Nürnberg and Jahn Regensburg, but a long-term groin injury has severely impacted his minutes with club and country.

Singh has not played for the All Whites since their 3-1 defeat to Jordan in January 2022.

On his move to Hansa Rostock, Singh had this to say: “I’m really looking forward to this new chapter in my career and to playing for the traditional club and in this fantastic stadium.

“So far I’ve only had the experience of playing against Hansa, so I can’t wait to play for Hansa.”

Singh has signed a three-year deal with Hansa Rostock, who have finished 13th in the 2. Bundesliga for the past two seasons.
