Shaun Johnson has trained with the main squad all week and now his wife, Kayla Johnson, has dropped a big hint that he will play his milestone game on Saturday night.
NRL, round 19: Eels v Warriors. Where: CommBank Stadium, Sydney. When: Saturday, July 8, 7.30pm. Coverage: Live on Sky Sport 4, live updates on Stuff from 7.10pm.
Will he or won’t he? The saga of whether Shaun Johnson will travel to Sydney for Saturday night’s clash against the Eels has been the talk of the Warriors’ fan base this week.
Johnson and his wife, Silver Fern Kayla Johnson, are expecting the birth of their second child this month and on Wednesday, Warriors coach Andrew Webster – who named the 32-year-old in his starting side – said they were planning for scenarios of his star halfback playing and not, without wanting to give too much away.
But in a post to social media, Kayla Johnson, a 61 test cap Silver Fern, appears to have confirmed her husband will represent the Warriors for a 200th time when the club take on Parramatta in a match they must win to stay inside the top eight.
“One week to go,” Johnson posted with a photo of herself to Instagram. “Please stay in there while your dad is away this weekend.”

Kayla Johnson has represented the Silver Ferns 61 times and has been a standout for the Northern Stars.
Her message was accompanied by a fingers crossed emoji.
One of New Zealand’s most prominent sporting couples, their second daughter will be a baby sister for their oldest child Millah.
As well as the 199 NRL games for the Warriors, the expectant father also played 40 games during a stint for the Sharks between 2019 and 2021 and made an emotional tribute to hiw wife when named player of the year at the club in 2020.
“She has sacrificed her whole career to come over here with me … and honestly I can never repay you … just for believing in me when I was copping it,” Johnson said at the time.
