Police have told people to steer clear of Killarney St in Takapuna as several road closures are in place, a spokesperson said.

Traffic has cleared on Auckland’s southwestern motorway after a crash during rush hour partially closed some lanes near Manukau.

Both fire crews and police attended the single-vehicle crash, with a police spokesperson telling drivers to avoid the area if possible.

No one was trapped in the vehicle, and a FENZ spokesperson said there was no information about the condition of the person involved.

The road has since been cleared.

Roads on Auckland’s North Shore have also reopened after emergency services worked to plug a gas leak.

Police told people to steer clear of Killarney St in Takapuna as several road closures were in place, a spokesperson said. But the leak was plugged up close to 6pm and crews left the scene.

It comes only days after a gas leak from a manhole in central Auckland closed two roads and saw one apartment block evacuated.

In that case it was a cracked valve that caused the leak.
